Hence Uman is a city located in Cherkasy oblas, central Ukraine, to the east of Vinnytsia. Among Ukrainians, Uman is known for its depiction of the Haidamak rebellions in Taras Shevchenko´s longest poems, Haydamaky. The city is also a piligrimage site for Breslov Hasidic Jews. On the 1st of May of 2023, 23 victims of the Russian attack died when two missiles slammed into an apartment building in Uman, between them 6 children.
